Arthur’s Seat Project is the second collective embroidery made by six women who lived in Serbia and six from Kosovo and Albania. They had each been asked to embroider a fragment of a stylized picture of Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano in Edinburgh, Scotland. Each woman carried a different and similar story at one time, all torn apart by a fierce and perhaps unreconciled conflict. Embroidery became a neutral meeting place, a possibility that some of them, perhaps, read as a momentary reprieve from everyday reality and a projection for possible future.
